Season Events in July

July 1-31 - The Guild of Adirondack Artists' Degas, Music, The Hyde Exhibition in the Friends Gallery at the Crandall Public Library. Event is free. Contact the Guild for more information 518-677-2495. FREE

July 1-31 - Adirondack Repertory Dance Theater and North Country Arts Center's Impressions of Dance. NCAC member artists will draw & photograph ARDT dancers and display their Impressions of Dance exhibition at several locations during 2009. The exhibition will include nearly 30 pieces. FREE

July 1-14 - Crandall Public Library Children's book display. Bring the family to the library to see a collection of books about Degas, art, and music. FREE

July 1 @ 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. & July 2-3 @ 8 p.m.- Adirondack Theatre Festival's Ordinary Days. A musical written by Adam Gwon following the lives of four New Yorkers as their paths become unwittingly intertwined. Performances are at the Charles R. Wood Theater. For ticket information contact the theater 518-798-9663.

July 2 @ 5:30-8:00 p.m. - The Hyde Collection's Hyde After Dark. Socialize, network and experience the museum while enjoying jazz melodies from John Seneta and light appetizers.

July 11 @ 10 a.m.-5 p.m. - The Hyde Collection's Degas & Music All-Day Opening reception and preview for Hyde members only.

July 13 @ 12 p.m. - The Hyde Collection's Summer Luncheon at the Lake George Club.


July 14 @ 2-3 p.m. - Degas' Dancers Inspire Ballet Basics - a dance workshop at Crandall Public Library. FREE

July 15-October 15 - World Awareness Children's Museum's Young Artists Inspired by Dance exhibition at Glens Falls Hospital. 518-926-1000 for more information. FREE

July 16 @ 6 p.m. - The Hyde Collection Degas Film Series, An American in Paris (NR). One of the greatest, most elegant, and most celebrated of MGM's 50's musicals. Lavish sets and costumes, tremendous Technicolor cinematography, and a romantic love story set to music and dance. Shown in the Museum's Helen Froehlich Auditorium. FREE

July 16 @ 5-8 p.m. - Third Thursday Art Walk. Discover established and up and coming local artists at various locations throughout Downtown Glens Falls. Maps of participating locations are available. Email glensfallsartwalk@yahoo.com for more information. FREE

July 17 @ 6-9 p.m. - Tom Myott Gallery's Degas-inspired Exhibition opening. Exhibition open through September 30. FREE

July 17 @ 7 p.m. - Hubbard Hall Curiosity Forum and Music from Salem: Hearing is Seeing: Synesthesia and the Arts. Do you see sounds, taste words, or hear colors? July 18 @ 7:30 p.m. - Cradle to Crone Productions' Chanson Serenade at The Hyde Collection.

July 19 @ 2 p.m. - Hyde Collection Degas Lecture Series, In the Phantom's Lair: The Architecture and Decoration of the Paris Opera. Independent journalist and scholar Barrymore Scherer will unlock the secrets and drama of the Paris Opera House, which has been the center of silent film to Andrew Lloyd-Webber's immensely popular musical, Phantom of the Opera. July 23 @ 7 p.m. - Chapman Historical Museum and Crandall Public Library's Music of the North Country. Ice cream social and fun family activities starting at 1 p.m. in City Park followed by Adirondack music by David Ruch. FREE
